Your Life Your Way
Dr. Yvette Fruchter Ph.D.
Let's Collaborate!
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in New York and specialize in providing evidence-based therapy for anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). I also work with many people that are seeking help for body dysmorphia, body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRB), depression, trauma, insomnia, and perfectionism. I am passionate about providing cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which offers practical strategies for improving wellbeing and has a strong scientific evidence-base. In therapy, we will work on learning what thoughts and behaviors are feeding your emotional suffering and practice new approaches to change unhelpful cycles. Treatment is collaborative, goal-oriented, and experiential; we will together address the issues you are facing and develop plans for how you can implement therapeutic tools between sessions.
Some of the ways therapy can help include:
-
Increasing ability to approach feared situations
-
Reducing procrastination and avoidance
-
Increasing empowerment and self-efficacy
-
Learning to make space for inner experiences (thoughts, feelings, memories)
-
Gaining new perspectives on self, others, and the world
-
Moving from self-criticism to self-compassion
-
Improving sense of presence in one's life
Therapy Qualities
Goal- Oriented
Treatment will be geared towards your goals. We will set an agenda at the beginning of each session and focus on your priority targets.
Practice
Research shows that between-session practice is related to better treatment outcomes. Like any skillset, practice makes progress!
Flexible
Our treatment plan will evolve as life events occur or your priorities shift. We will be creative with how we apply psychological tools and principles to ensure they are individualized to your needs.
Collaborative
We will work together as a team. You are the expert on your life experiences and what works for your needs. I will be an active guide, offering feedback and tools.
Skill-building
Depending on your needs, we will learn a variety of skills to get unstuck and move towards what matters. Skills are evidence-based from cognitive behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy
Strong Therapeutic Relationship
The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of therapy. I strive to create a supportive, validating, and non-judgmental environment.
